Adult Growth Hormone Deficiency

Page 4
Growth hormone (somatotropin) is often the first hormone to be lost or reduced in pituitary and hypothalamic disorders.
Causes of Hypopituitarism
Congenital or acquired, Inflammation, Surgery, Radiation, Autoimmune disease

Location of the hypothalamus and pituitary gland

Symptoms of hypopituitarism depends on the specific hormone that is lacking. The amount of Somatotropin (growth hormone) produced and secreted normally goes down with age. The decrease of somatotropin in children results in failure to grow; with a decrease of somatotropin in adults, the symptoms are subtle but measurable.
